My parents spent years telling me that my big mouth would
land me in trouble, and they were right. At BSDCon 2001 and
then at the UK Unix Users Group (UKUUG) Winterconf in 2002,
I presented a business focused paper on FreeBSD. To say my
nerves were shot would be an understatement.
Because I'm a slow learner, I ended up on the wrong side of
the podium again at BSDCan 2004. This was without a doubt
the most exceptional conference I've been to, both from a
content and organisational point of view. It was a honour
to be on the same programme as the exceptional people who
presented there :) My paper on Firewalling with FreeBSD was
fairly well received, so I'm still quite keen to keep
presenting to my peers.
On top of my speaking engagements I've written a couple of
documents that various members of the free software
community have found useful.
